identity of the man on the middle cross. Keep this context in mind as you discuss these questions.

1. Following vv. 1-8, how significant is the identity of the person coming in v. 9? Who are we anticipating?

2. What's the significance of so many Old Testament passages being referenced in regard to Jesus of Nazareth?

3. Read Isaiah 40:3-5; 42:1-4; 53:4-7; 61:1. What do these passages tell us about the Messiah?

4. How does Jesus of Nazareth fulfill these messianic expectations?
